概要
「大里地区の玉石垣と中之郷の玉石垣の古民家喫茶中之郷」は、東京都八丈島で見られる玉石を積み上げた石垣と、古民家を改装した喫茶店です。
日本でありながら、亜熱帯性気候の八丈島は、南国の雰囲気と日本の文化が織り混ざった八丈島ならではの文化があります。
現在、大里地区などに残る玉石垣は、流人が防風壁として積み上げたものといわれており、島を散策しながら身近に歴史を感じることができます。
中之郷地区にある古民家喫茶「中之郷」は、オーナーの祖母が住んでいた古民家を改装して喫茶店にしたものです。
Summary
The Osato Region Cobblestone Wall and Nakanogo Cobblestone Wall at the Old Japanese style House Café, Nakanogo are a stone walls created by stacking cobblestones. The café is in an old Japanese style house in the area. Hachijojima, which despite being in Japan, has a subtropical climate, and the culture mixing the atmosphere of a tropical resort and Japanese culture, can only be found in Hachijojima. It is said that currently the inflow of cobblestones remaining in the Osato region, were stacked up to create a wind barrier, and one can really feel history close by when strolling around the island. Nakanogo Café, a refurbished historic house, gets its name from the Nakanogo area, which is where the owner’s grandmother used to live.
