概要

俵山温泉は千余年の歴史があり、古くから湯治場として名を馳せた温泉地です。古くは殿様も度々訪れていたという名湯で、泉質はアルカリ単純泉でありながら、驚異的な抗酸化力を有することが実証され、遠方から湯治に訪れるお客様もいます。
温泉街は、狭い道路の両側に木造3階建ての旅館が軒を並べ、支えあうように建っています。街中で随所に見られる多くの路地と合わせて、昭和初期を思わせるようなノスタルジックな雰囲気は、クールジャパンと呼ぶにふさわしい景観といえるでしょう。それぞれの宿には内湯がなく、お客様は2か所の公衆浴場に入浴する外湯文化が継承されています。
2019年ラグビーワールドカップの公認キャンプ地にも指定され、今後外国人観光客が増えることも予想されています。


Summary
Tawarayama is an area known as a hot spring health resort with over a 1,000-year history. While the water is a simple alkali hot spring water, it also contains strong anti-oxidants which attracts people from far away places, even feudal lords throughout history.
In the hot spring district, small 3 story Japanese ryokan inns line the roads and allies creating a nostalgic feeling of the mid-1900s. Carrying on an old local hot spring tradition, the inns don’t have indoor baths, instead have 2 separate outdoor public baths.
This area was selected as one of the training camp areas for the 2019 Rugby World Cup and is expected to get more attention from the international market.
